Themes: far from fearless

I love the style of this theme by Chris at Far From Fearless, it has a nice balance between a blog and a more traditional static structure website.
This is an interesting example of what I would term an ‘experienced user only’ theme, in that it comes with a number of healthwarnings:
“as much as I would love to say that my markup is 100% XHTML compliant - it isn’t. There are a number of warnings that will crop up when you try to validate it (thus I left the validation link off). It renders as it should, from that perspective I am quite happy, but one day I will get around to making it 100% compliant.”
and probably a bigger issue for some:
“The most important thing you should understand is that some of the more subtle styles such as the bookmarks and categories listings were possible only because I hacked up the WP Core Files.”
Some people would criticise the release of a theme which breaks out of it’s own directory, but I’ve been there and sometimes a quick hack of the base code will save you a day of code elsewhere.
Chris makes the theme available with the warning, which I think is the right way to go. Releasing the theme without making this clear (which I have seen done many times) would certainly be a little unfair to the innocent downloader, who nine times out of ten would faint at the mere mention of ‘hacked up WP Core Files’.
Chris has come up with a great looking theme here which has a lot to offer a reasonably seasoned theme hacker. He also includes original photoshop files, making customisation easy. User feedback should help him push it towards being a 100% compliant well behaved theme in a couple of versions time.
All the usual download, preview and support links, with some additional support info here.

Nice rework (and interesting theme related post) here: http://writerspace.net/?p=887
This is an amazing theme and the author should receive a lot of credit for it! I actually found this theme on Desperate Curiosity (http://www.writerspace.net) the first time, and I loved their re-work of it.
