Twittering follow-up

Following the twitter sidebar post a few days ago I’ve been pointed at a host of Wordpress specific info and general Twitter tools which I thought may be of interest. Logic being that if you add your twitter bar to your site it had better say something useful, so you probably need tools to help [...]

New themes: Beast blog

An unusual theme this one, but a great one. I love the boldness of this, combined with the delicacy of touch with the layout. It would be great as the basis for any wildlife project, or tweaked with some new graphics could adopt any theme. Much classier than the hundreds of ‘20 minutes with photoshop [...]

New themes: Dirtylicious

I love this for similar reasons that I enjoyed the last clean wordpress theme I reviewed. Even though it’s called dirtylicious, this strikes me as a very clean platform for a blog. No overcomplication, but some nice texture so that it doesn’t feel too clinical.

With an operating demonstration here, and a list ofother themes [...]

New themes: Crispy cornsilk

This is exactly the kind of theme I wish more people would use. Nice and simple, colours that are easy on the eye, rather than a million headings for sidebar elements which dominate the screenspace:

Download it here, or see the test here. The author has other theme, which are just as clean looking.

Nice job. If you use this for your blog do drop me a line and I’ll link to it as an [...]

I won’t spoil the impact of the design, just give you a hint at it - so prepare yourselves and click the inverted clouds below.

Suggestions for future favourite blogs welcome [...]

Cache defence

One of the criticisms WordPress is often on the receiving end of is that it performs poorly under load. By load we mean a Digging. And it’s true - most WordPress sites will collapse pretty quickly under pressure of a lot of concurrent traffic.
I think 90% of the problem is in the repeat visits to [...]

Wordpress plugin template

The best way to learn is often to simply take a starting point and play. For me it’s always a finished item I respect, which I pull to pieces, replace the pieces, and then build up again. But for many a bare template is the prefered starting point.
Despite having a ’so hideous it’s somehow cool’ [...]
